Southern Guild presents African collectible design to a new audience of collectors at Intersect Chicago, a virtual art fair replacing SOFA for the 2020 edition due to COVID-19. Intersect Chicago is live online from 6 – 12 November, with a dedicated VIP Day on 5 November. The fair is the evolution of SOFA (Sculpture Objects Functional Art), which takes place annually at Chicago’s Navy Pier. First established in 1993, it focuses on three-dimensional artworks that cross the boundaries of fine art, decorative art, fibre arts, and design.
For Intersect Aspen, Southern Guild has curated a collection of hand-crafted furniture, lighting, sculpture and ceramics by 18 of South Africa’s leading designers and artists. Click here to see our collection on Intersect Chicago.
The fair will feature a special focus for each day, including: glass, contemporary art, ceramics and craft, design, Outsider Art, fibre art, and public art / sculpture. SOFA Salons will present a series of free online conversations on various topics of art and design throughout the fair’s duration, complemented by a calendar of special talks and events.
In addition to accessing the fair through the Intersect Chicago website, visitors may also visit the fair through Artsy.
