Six collectible-design furniture pieces by Southern Guild artists are presented at Dorotheum’s Design First auction in Vienna. Included in the esteemed event is David Krynauw’s Haywire D1 chandelier in blackened ash, with 11 curved arms that rotate in both directions, allowing countless possibilities to control the light and change the lamp’s appearance. The Kassena Horseman cabinet by Dokter and Misses is on auction, too, its hand-painted beechwood surface inspired by the art of the Kassena people living in the borderland between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Also presented are Dylan Lewis’ Gesture couch table in bronze (edition 5 of 8), John Vogel’s Beauty is in the Beast, a unique object of sculpturally worked Iroko wood, and two mild-steel tables by Gregor Jenkin: Foundrie and Breakfast tables.
