Otto du Plessis is primarily a sculptor who also creates limited-edition pieces of collectible design. He attended the prestigious Pretoria Art Music and Ballet School, Pro Arte, where he majored in sculpture with distinction. His career began in London as a modeller and sculptor specialising in bespoke plaster enrichments, but soon evolved with him starting the Bronze Age Art Foundry in Cape Town 20 years ago. Bronze Age has since established itself as the go-to bronze foundry for both local and internationally esteemed artists. Bronze is Du Plessis’ medium of choice. Skeletal forms, organic and the cerebral are his themes. An association with the macabre disappears with his playful touch is often evident.
