Cape Town designer Xandre Kriel creates high-end furniture pieces through the use of simple geometry. He painstainkingly designs each of his sculptural pieces with consummate dedication. The aesthetic appeal of shapes is his motivating force, and for nearly 10 years he has found a balance between working with the tactile properties of wood and the technological processes involved in steel work. He sees his work as a necessity to his existence, rather than something poetic. Xandre draws inspiration from materials in their natural state, observing and emphasising their character through a manipulation of shape and form.
